EPA Hazardous Waste Requirements

A “hazardous waste” is any chemical or chemical mixture that is an EPA listed waste or has characteristics of ignitability, corrosivity, toxicity, or reactivity.
Label all hazardous waste containers “HAZARDOUS WASTE” and other words that identifies the contents of the container.
Place all hazardous waste in a labeled “Hazardous Waste Satellite Accumulation Area”, located in the same room as the point of generation.
Keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding wastes.
Do not drain dispose hazardous waste
Place hazardous waste containers in secondary containment trays.
Place a waste tag on the chemical waste container just prior to disposal of the container through the Environmental Compliance/Hazardous Waste Unit.
Call x5-2056 when a pickup is required.
