EPA Hazardous Waste Requirements
- A “hazardous waste” is any chemical or chemical mixture that is an EPA listed waste or has
characteristics of ignitability, corrosivity, toxicity, or reactivity.
- Label all hazardous waste containers “HAZARDOUS WASTE” and other words that identifies the contents of the
container.
- Place all hazardous waste in a labeled “Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area”, located in the same room as
the point of generation.
- Keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding wastes.
- Do not drain dispose hazardous waste.
- Place hazardous waste containers in secondary containment trays.
- Call Hazardous Waste when a pick up is required.
