University of Rochester Off-site Facilities Fire Drill Policy
To: Strong Health Offsite Managers/Occupants
The National Fire Protection Association Codes/Standards, require all off-site facilities which
are classified as a business occupancy, to conduct and document a minimum of one fire and one disaster
drill (per shift, per year). In order for Strong Health off-sites to comply with these requirements,
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is asking you to train and conduct one fire drill and one disaster
drill per shift with your staff. We are providing you with a copy of the guideline and a form to document
each drill. Please fill out the attached form and then send a copy to the Fire Marshals office via
inter-office mail, fax or e-mail (Attention: Jared Guhl). In addition to having a copy in our office,
we request that each off-site creates a file for review on-site by a University of Rochester Fire
Safety Inspector during the Strong Memorial Hospital’s Environment of Care Council annual survey of
off-sites. A list and schedule of the inspections has been attached to this email. As always, if there
are any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our office.
