Candles, Lanterns and Incense in UR Housing
Some students would like to use candles, lanterns, tiki lamps
etc. for ambiance or mood purposes. Such use can be extremely hazardous and
is strictly prohibited. Exceptions are made with permission from the University Fire Marshal
with 72 hours of advanced notice of the requested date.
The following recommended guideline address
the issues related to open flames, candles, lanterns, etc. in student residence
facilities:
Open Flames
Lighting devices such as candles, tiki lamps, oil lamps, torches, etc. are
absolutely prohibited in student residence facilities. Possession
of these prohibited lighting devices in student residence facilities will result
in appropriate student disciplinary measures.
Use of Candles or Incense
The use of candles or the burning of incense in student residence facilities
is prohibited.
